The Spanish Civil Guard dealt a severe blow to national tobacco smuggling by dismantling a network in Aznalcázar, Seville, which had 34,800 kilograms of tobacco ready for distribution throughout the country.

Seven people were arrested during the operation, called Mutis, with four of them charged as members of a criminal organization.

According to the Civil Guard, the investigation took almost six months -began in January- and shed light on the criminal organization scheme, which operated with a company-like organization chart and had a turnover of more than hundreds of thousands of euros.

The operation detected that the tobacco was distributed in a truck that featured false advertising from a well-known beer brand. The distribution, made in small shipments, of no more than 10 kilograms, reached the entire country.
